February College Admissions Tasks for Juniors and Sophomores!

January felt like it was many months long, but we have finally made it into February!

This year has been yet another wild ride in admissions with many universities so inundated with EA applications that they admitted the very top students and then deferred en masse (at least UTAustin was honest, admitting that they simply ran out of time to read all applications.) We don't say this to cause stress, but to acknowledge the trend and share that our instincts are that many of the deferrals seniors have received will be converted to acceptances in the regular admissions round. It's also a great reminder that creating a thoughtful and balanced list is really the key to successful results!

Our current seniors have now received more than $6 Million in collective merit aid! That means the average Foundry senior has received more than $100k in merit aid this year. Yes, you read that correctly – more than $100k in merit on average for each of our seniors.

Some items for our juniors and sophomores this month:

College Tours: Now is the time to plan those spring break visits. MCPS also has 3/31 off so that's perfect timing to squeeze in a long weekend! Fun fact- you can use any google sheet to make a map so you can easily plot out your college list. Here's a map of many colleges across the country – Foundry College Map

Summer Activities: We've been working on cataloging summer ideas and it's finally ready to share. If you would like it, please email us (foundryadmissions@gmail.com) and we will send it your way! Remember the only wrong choice for summer is doing nothing :)

SAT/ACT: For many juniors, March is when they take the SAT for the first time. What is your plan for the test? Some brief studying this month will likely pay dividends if you take the test next month. Have a plan!

Upcoming Webinar: Join us on February 27th for a free webinar: Getting a Start on College Admissions as a High School Junior or Sophomore. In this free webinar, we will talk about the things HS sophomores and juniors should be doing this spring semester to prepare for the college admissions process. One of the keys to keeping the admissions process organized and the stress levels low is to start early. This session will provide a great jumping off point.

1:1 Work with Foundry: What are you waiting for!? February is the perfect time for sophomores and juniors to get started with us. Schedule your free consultation call with us to learn more here: Foundry Consultation
