March College Admissions Tasks for 9th, 10th, and 11th Graders!

Writer: Kenny SholesKenny Sholes

I can't believe it's already March...Spring will be here in no time!

Just a few days ago, the Common Application publicly announced that the personal essay prompts will not change for 2025-2026. This is not surprising, but  it's great to see the confirmation. This means that current juniors can get started on their personal essays (and we are here to help if you need it!).

As always, I love bragging about our current seniors, who have now received more than $7 Million in collective merit aid! That means the average Foundry senior has received more than $110k in merit aid this year. Yes, you read that correctly – more than $110k in merit on average for each of our seniors.

Some items for our juniors and sophomores this month:

9th/10th Grade Small Groups: For our Sophomores, I strongly recommend you consider joining us for our small group sessions starting March 11th. Learn more and enroll here: 9th/10th Grade Small Group Sessions

College Tours: Now is the time to plan those spring break visits. MCPS also has 3/31 off so that's perfect timing to squeeze in a long weekend!

Personal Essay: As mentioned above, the prompts have been released. Now is the time for juniors to start brainstorming. We are here to help if you need it!

Activities List: Have you started building your activities list (the list of extracurriculars you have been involved with through high school)? This month would be a great time to start building the list.

Summer Activities: We've been working on cataloging summer ideas and it's finally ready to share. If you would like it, please email us (foundryadmissions@gmail.com) and we will send it your way! Remember the only wrong choice for summer is doing nothing :)

SAT/ACT: For many juniors, March is when they take the SAT for the first time. What is your plan for the test? Some brief studying prior to the test will likely pay dividends. We also have an upcoming free webinar to talk about changes to the ACT. Grab your free ticket here: SAT/ACT Webinar

Upcoming Webinar: Join us on March 12th for a free webinar: Lessons Learned from the 2024 Admissions Cycle In this free webinar, we will talk about the things our team has learned from work with seniors this year. The landscape continues to change and we are actively working to stay on top of all those changes.

1:1 Work with Foundry: What are you waiting for!? March is the perfect time for sophomores and juniors to get started with us. Schedule your free consultation call with us to learn more here: Foundry Consultation
